Since 2012, Molad has been at the forefront of the revitalization of Israel’s intellectual and political landscape. As an independent think tank, we respond to Israel’s evolving reality with innovative ideas that envision a brighter future amidst deepening challenges.
Molad’s approach combines liberal values, political realism, and an unwavering commitment to Israel as a secure, Jewish, and democratic state. At the heart of our vision is the pursuit of equality, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence for all Israeli citizens, alongside a steadfast dedication to resolving Israel’s geopolitical challenges through pragmatic arrangements that foster stability and security.
In addition to rigorous research, Molad is nurturing the next generation of public intellectuals though our growing network of training programs.
At Molad, we know that ideas power change. Over the past decade, we have produced groundbreaking studies that delve into the roots of Israel’s political, social, and security crises and offer pathways to a better future.
From early warnings about Israel’s weakening Western alliances (Alliance in Crisis, 2013) to uncovering the financial mechanisms behind settlement expansion (The Settler Right’s Secret Fund, 2014; At Any Cost, 2015), Molad has consistently challenged conventional perspectives. We have explored the lasting impact of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination (Civil War, 2017*), analyzed the security burden posed by settlements (Israeli Security Pays Price for Settlements, 2017), and proposed practical plans for a nonviolent evacuation of settlements (Nonviolent Civil Evacuation, 2021).
In recent years, we have tackled Israel’s most urgent challenges, including the breakdown of security doctrines in the wake of the October 7 tragedy (Dangerous Delusions, 2023), a liberal alternative to judicial reform (The Liberal Framework for Israel’s Judiciary, 2023), and religious extremism’s growing influence in civics education (Winning Hearts and Minds, 2017).
Today, our research is focused on two critical fault lines: Israel’s geopolitical situation and its internal identity. We offer pragmatic solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, work to bolster Israel’s role in the Middle East, and advocate for its place in the Western democratic world. Domestically, we reject the notion that Israel’s Jewish and democratic values are mutually incompatible. Molad’s vision, grounded in authentic Zionist traditions, reaffirms that a Jewish state is inherently a democratic state.
Molad is shaping the future by cultivating a new generation of public intellectuals who will be able to influence Israel’s discourse for years to come.
Through the Liberal Fellows Program, launched in 2021, we bring together early-career academics and PhD candidates to help them translate their expertise into impactful public debates. In just three years, our fellows have published hundreds of articles, delivered lectures nationwide, and established a vibrant intellectual community committed to Israel’s renewal.
The Noga Program in Political Thought, launched in 2023, offers intensive training to outstanding undergraduates and master’s students. By integrating the study of political theory, Zionist thought, and Israel’s political-security challenges, Noga equips its graduates with the tools to think critically and lead constructively.
Molad is more than just a think tank — it is a dynamic hub for research, ideas, community, and leadership. We are dedicated to building a renewed and modern Israel that approaches its challenges with vision, clarity, and purpose.
